NASCAR BUSCH SERIES
Car Racing Events:
There are numerous car-racing series which are operated and owned by NASCAR. One amongst them is the NASCAR Busch Series. It is considered to be the minor league circuit of NASCAR. These are usually equated to the Triple A baseball. It is an establishing ground for the drivers stepping up the ‘Big League Circuit’ which is the Nextel Cup. The races for the Busch Series are mostly organized in the same location as the race for the Nextel Cup. This makes fans to witness both the events.
History of NASCAR Busch Series:
The NASCAR Busch series came out from the Old Sportsman division of NASCAR. It was established in the year 1950, as a short track race division for NASCAR. The cars used by the sportsmen then were not the model cars that are currently used. In 1968, race event was named as the “Late Model Sportsman Series”. Soon, it included races on the larger tracks. One amongst them was the “Daytona International Speedway”.
Present Busch Series:
The present Busch Series was established in the year 1982. At that time, a recently reformed late model series was sponsored by Anheuser Busch. In the year 1986, the series was renamed as the Busch Grand National Series. Although at the end of the 1994 car racing season, the V6 based cars exited the series, V6 engines were used even at the 1995 car racing season. In the year 2003, the term “Grand National” was omitted from the title. In the year 2008, the Busch Series would consist of a new sponsor. |
